Melanie is committed to working with adults, adolescents and children impacted by trauma, early attachment difficulties, depression, anxiety and other mental health difficulties. Individuals may seek help for many different reasons, from a sense of hopelessness, questions around identity and relationships, a pervasive experience of low mood or anxiety, seeking to understand experiences of trauma, neglect or abuse, or complications from grief or loss. Melanie seeks to understand the unique experience which has brought someone to the point of seeking therapy, and places primary importance on building trust in the therapy relationship.
Melanie is a registered clinical psychologist with experience working in schools, on the Lifeline and Pregnancy, Birth and Baby Helplines, in private inpatient and outpatient settings, and working with young people impacted by trauma at Lighthouse Foundation. Melanie is also a sessional lecturer at Victoria University.
Melanie’s principal approach combines psychodynamic psychotherapy and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR). Melanie enjoys working with those who are committed to long-term reflective processing of their experiences.
